Respect for the environment, today, must be seen as a duty for everyone. Doing it also means paying attention to the collection of waste, by implementing the differentiated one, which is essential for reducing pollution because of separate them according to their type allows them to be disposed of and recovered in an appropriate manner, causing the slightest possible damage to nature.

Oils and pollution

Among the waste to be disposed of there are exhausted vegetable oils, whose collection, especially at the domestic level, is not implemented properly.

While in the case of other waste, such as organic, paper or plastic, we tend to operate in a correct way, in this context we still do not properly, perhaps also due missing about exhaustive information and education in this regard.

Not everyone knows that to dispose of only 1 liter of oil, nature takes 10 years and that the same liter of oil can pollute 1 million liters of water.

The incorrect disposal of food oil causes serious environmental consequences

Often the waste food oil (for frying or for food preservation) is unfortunately disposed of in an improper manner, causing serious environmental consequences.

If spilled in the sink/toilet causes damage to drains and water systems; if dispersed in the ground prevents plants from feeding and can make unusable drinking water wells.

For all these reasons it's essential to collect wasted oils separately and take it to the Collection Center: recycling can be obtained industrial soaps, mastics, inks, waxes, lubricant-based products, fuel and energy production.

This also applies to residual frying oils in the kitchen or produced as part of the preparation and preservation of food at home (frying oil or preserving food in boxes or jars).

They are in fact strongly polluting for the environment, if they are placed in an inappropriate way: the uncontrolled combustion of these oils generates toxic substances that we then breathe and if they end up in the water without being filtered at least greatly decrease the amount of oxygen available for animals and plants.

On the contrary, if they are spilled on any ground, serious damage to the ecosystem equilibrium occurs, because depositing in the subsoil they produce a very thin film around the earth particles, creating a barrier between these, the water and the capillary roots of the plants, impossible so to take nourishment.

If they can even reach the water table, they form a layer 3/5 mm thick, which moves with the same water table downstream and can even reach wells of drinking water, even extremely distant, with the understandable serious consequences for those who that water will drink and therefore for public health.[...]
